Rainbow Country
Gaze out upon the rugged, windswept landscapes of Georgian Bay - a magnet for generations of painters and photographers. Cruise the 30,000 Islands past rocky isles with summer cottages and jack pines bowed by the west wind. Explore mysterious shipwrecks sunk in the clearest water you'll ever see. Reel in a fish story and tell the tale over a tasty shore lunch. Absorb Aboriginal culture on a glorious island created by the "Great Spirit." Behold the splendour as summer slips into fiery autumn and then, into a northern wonderland of snowmobile and ski trails. Experience your vacation in a region fondly known as "Rainbow Country" where the pace is easy and the adventures never end.

Must See
Blessed with incredible natural beauty, Rainbow Country offers endless adventures and attractions - breathtaking cruises, white quartzite mountains and numerous historical sites. Wherever you go in Rainbow Country, you'll find a reason to return and here are some of them:
  1. Drink in the beauty and history of Georgian Bay on a narrated cruise aboard the Island Queen departing from the Parry Sound Town Dock.
  2. Watch earthquakes form and gaze at the stars in Sudbury's internationally acclaimed Science North - a hands-on, high-tech, interactive centre for exploring the mysteries of science.
  3. Feel the spirit of the lightkeeper at Manitoulin's Mississagi Lighthouse with attached quarters and an original foghorn.
  4. Set out to hike or canoe through a beautiful tract of wilderness in Killarney Provincial Park - immortalized by Canada's famous Group of Seven artists.
  5. Delight in the colourful swirl of beads and feathers of Aboriginal dancers moving to the beat of the drum in August at Manitoulin's Wikwemikong - North America's largest Pow Wow.
  6. Join in the fun at Sudbury's Northern Lights Festival Boreal - Canada's longest running multicultural music festival with over 100 concerts.
  7. Trek along the rocky ridges of the LaCloche Mountains - a striking mountain range of white quartzite overlooking Killarney Provincial Park or traverse along the historic French River, now a designated Canadian Heritage River.
  8. Board the Chi-Cheemaun Ferry, meaning "Big Canoe," for a wonderful ride to Manitoulin Island - the world's largest freshwater island and home to a wealth of Aboriginal culture and lore.
  9. Play a game of mini golf at the Dinosaur Valley Mini Golf among mammoth skeleton dinosaurs, and marvel at an insect exhibit in skeleton form.
  10. Discover the fascinating evolution of a township from the earliest Aboriginal inhabitants to hearty loggers and brave early settlers at the West Parry Sound Museum.
  11. Submerse yourself in an evening of outdoor adventure! Gordon's Park Wilderness Retreats & Interpretive Centre hosts Stargazing Manitoulin. This is a unique occasion to observe the breath-taking night skies of the largest freshwater island in the world, with the rare opportunity to retire for the night in an authentic tipi tent.
