Lake Erie North Shore and Pelee Island
Follow the splendid wine route through the rolling countryside and lush vineyards along Lake Erie's beautiful north shore. Tour acclaimed wineries and sample vintages that have earned international prizes. Visit Pelee Island - the southernmost tip of Canada - famous for magnificent bird migrations and autumn skies brilliantly aglow with migrating monarch butterflies. Explore majestic Carolinian forests, oak and old pine stands or dig your toes into glorious stretches of sand dunes and beach. Observe a wonderful array of Great Lakes wildlife in well-conserved wetlands and protected marshes. Plan your Lake Erie visit and be prepared to toast your good fortune.

Visit vintners producing award-winning wines. Pretend you're dropping in on royalty in an elegant country manor. Challenge the odds at an exciting casino. Raise your binoculars in a bird watching haven on a Great Lake.
  1. Wander through sprawling greenhouses filled with vibrant flowering cacti and tropical plants at Colisanti's Tropical Gardens in Ruthven, complete with a petting zoo and colourful tropical bird display.
  2. Play the night away at dazzling Caesars Windsor with more than 3,000 slot machines, 100 gaming tables and a luxurious hotel on the premises.
  3. Hike or bike around picturesque Pelee Island to tour the Pelee Island Winery's Wine Pavilion where you can sample acclaimed vintages and enjoy special events from May to October.
  4. Behold soul-stirring spring and fall bird migrations and the majestic fall monarch butterfly migration at Point Pelee National Park, well known for its sandy beaches and bird-filled marshes.
  5. Look up during Windsor's Red Bull Air Race World Championship and watch lightweight racing planes compete in one of the most exciting new sports.
  6. See one of the world's most outstanding sandspits in Rondeau Provincial Park where centuries of Lake Erie wave action have shaped unique sand ridges and sloughs housing rare wildlife.
  7. Board the H.M.S. Detroit and discover Amherstburg's proud naval history through artifacts and displays at the William Mills Marine Exhibit.
  8. Feed wild ducks, observe Canada geese and learn about Ontario's commitment to waterfowl conservation at the renowned Jack Miner Bird Sanctuary in Kingsville.
  9. Visit the elegant Tudor-style Willistead Manor - a 36-room country mansion, coach house and gatehouse surrounded by gorgeous gardens and wooded parkland in Walkerville.
  10. Step back in time with a visit to the quaint harbourtown of Port Stanley. Take a historic trip and 'ride the rails' that are over 140 years old, on the restored Port Stanley Terminal Rail from the Port to St. Thomas, and then back along the scenic Kettle Creek River. Or be thrilled by historical tales of shipbuilding, shipwrecks and heroic rescues at the Pelee Island Heritage Centre.
