A nationally significant historic site, Sainte-Marie among the Hurons was the 17th-century headquarters for the French Jesuit mission to the Huron people. Season features and events include the Huron Carol Exhibit (all season), Aboriginal Festival (June 12-13), National Aboriginal Day (June 21), the Georgian Bay Native Friendship Centre Pow Wow (Sainte-Marie Park, September 11-12), the Thanksgiving Harvest Festival and Arts and Crafts Show and Sale (October 9-10), and the First Light Christmas event (evenings November 25-26-27).
