The Rideau Canal is a chain of beautiful lakes, rivers and canals winding 202 km from Kingston, at the head of Lake Ontario, to Ottawa, Canada's capital city. The Rideau Canal's heritage lock stations still operate as they did at the time of completion in 1832 and the canal remains a fully operational navigable waterway. Parks Canada maintains stewardship of the Canal and visitors can enjoy a unique mixture of history and nature by canoe, bike, boat or on foot.
