Explore Muskoka and Almaguin Highlands, regions of Ontario that boast some of the most amazing fall colour. Experience ultimate relaxation in Ontario’s iconic ‘resorting’ communities. If you can tack on a few more days, let Voyageur Quest guide you on a paddling adventure in Algonquin Provincial Park.

DAY ONE
Enjoy a view of Muskoka Bay at Wolff’s Den, a European-style café serving up pastries, sandwiches, signature coffees overlooking the water in Gravenhurst. Stock up on core, seasonal and speciality local brews at Sawdust Brewing Co.
Taste and tour
Get to Johnston’s Cranberry Farm and Winery, just north of Bala, in time for the first Bog to Bottle Discovery Tour of the day, a guided farm journey from cranberry bog to ‘Muskoka in a bottle’ including tutored wine tasting; who knew cranberries, one of Canada’s few native fruits, could make great wine! Pick up a bottle, along with preserves, chocolate and Luck Duck Fudge, a treat crafted out of a long standing family cottage tradition from the onsite shop.
Cruise and dine
Make you way into Port Carling, a cozy little village on the Indian River, straddling both Silver Lake and Mirror Lake featuring a landmark wall mural. Pre-book a scenic afternoon cruise aboard the restored Peerless II on the ‘big three’ lakes; Muskoka, Joseph or Rousseau.
Linger over dinner at Loondocks, a riverside restaurant serving award-winning, locally inspired cuisine.
Stay in style
Continue on towards Brackenrig and finally to the ‘Lady of the Lakes’, Windermere House, a stately historic resort established in 1870 on the shore of Lake Rosseau; some suites offer full lake views.

DAY TWO
Enjoy complimentary breakfast at Windemere House, before hitting the road again.
Tour
Catch Highway 11 North to the Muskoka Heritage Place in Huntsville for insight into the Muskoka’s pioneering past. Follow the downtown Huntsville portion of the Outdoor Group of Seven Mural Gallery.
Detour west from Burk’s Falls to view the Screaming Heads, a fascinating outdoor art exhibit of huge concrete sculptures created by local artist Peter Camani on his sprawling property. Return to Burk’s Falls for lunch at Bakery by the Bridge. Further north, visit Sundridge, a picturesque village located at the intersection of Highway 11 and 124 to take in the view of the fall colour and Lake Bernard from the High Rock lookout point in town.
Resort relaxation
Just south of Sundridge, Northridge Inn is located on Lake Bernard, and offers lodge rooms, chalets, glamping tents or a vintage Airstream (yes please!). You’ll want to get here in time to enjoy the heated pool, vintage board games and cottage chic décor; this boutique resort oozes northern Canadian charm.

DAY THREE
If it’s a warm fall morning, indulge in an outdoor massage.
Shop
End your resort retreat with some shopping in South River; find unique handmade arts at Groovy Glass Beads and crafts and gifts at The Northern Crafter’s Collective. Check out the local brewing experience at Highlander Brew Company.
