Ontario small town charm and markets

Small Town Charm

As you travel throughout Ontario, take time to stop and explore our charming small towns and villages. You will find boutiques, galleries and artisans shops.

Niagara-on-the-Lake is one of the loveliest towns in the country, steeped in history and tradition.  The town has elegant inns and fantastic restaurants. The main street is lined with boutiques, galleries and antique shops packed with hip and funky pieces and unique collections. Located on the same latitude as world famous wine regions in France and Italy, Niagara, whose particular natural environment gave birth to its thriving wine-making industry, is the home of more than 90 picturesque wineries.  Sample Chardonnay, Riesling, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon and, of course, Canada's special Icewine.

Two hours north of Toronto, you'll find Muskoka, Ontario's renowned outdoor playground. Known for its resorts and adventure opportunities, its small towns and villages each have their own charm as well. Communities such as Huntsville, Port Carling and Bala are perfect for leisurely perusing the work of local artisans and Canadiana treasures. Browse the famous Muskoka Store for sporting goods, clothing and home décor – with a “cottage feel’ to it!

The small towns and country roads of Prince Edward County offer abundant choices ! Locally handmade choices range from pottery, jewelry, wood, glass, wool, quilts, art, furniture to everything you could possibly want or need! Local vintages make great gifts too!

Stratford's claim to fame is the Stratford Festival, featuring the plays of Shakespeare and other masterworks from classical to contemporary, but it's also fantastic for shopping and dining. Browse the boutiques downtown for everything from fashion to fine art. And from haute cuisine to country comfort food, fresh and inventive seasonal flavours await.
